Stress management

Stress is defined as any type of change that causes physical, emotional or psychological stress. Stress is your body's response to anything that requires attention or action. Everyone experiences stress in some way. However, the way you respond to stress can make a big difference in your overall well-being. (Anon., n.d.)

“Set of techniques and programs intended to help people deal more effectively with stress in their lives by analyzing the specific stressors and taking positive actions to minimize their effects” (Gale Encyclopaedia of Medicine, 2008)

Stress management is defined as tools, strategies or techniques that reduce stress and minimize the negative impact of stress on your mental or physical well-being. (David, n.d.)

 

Why Stress management is Important

Stress has become so ubiquitous today it is also called executive disease. It has a physical impact on our health social impact and psychological impact. stress is considered one of the most important problems of our time. That is why people talk need managing stress.

1.    Better Life

If you are constantly depressed, you will be weakening your health like headaches, abdominal pain, high blood pressure, chest pain and problems sex and sleep. Effective stress management helps you deal with stress in your life so you can be happier, healthier, and more productive. The goal is a balanced life with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun.

2.    To improve health

Studies show that people with depression age faster than people without depression. Stress can cause weight gain and obesity. Proper management of stress will reduce physical changes and lead to a healthier life. Do not wait until stress damages your health. Over time, chronic stress can lead to serious health problems.

3.    To move forward

The mind does not allow itself to focus on any work when it is under stress. Proper stress management helps you progress in your routine.

4.    To strengthen relationships

Depression can affect our personal life in many ways. This can affect the relationship between other close relatives. When people are depressed, they become more backward, distracted, and less affectionate.

5.    Improve performance

Workplace stress is an obstacle to one’s better functioning and success. Stress makes employees less efficient in their work. If work pressure goes unnoticed, companies will pay the price at higher turnover rates, eventually this will lead to negative performance of the company. Proper stress management improves performance.

6.    To improve communication

Individuals who feel depressed can easily become frustrated or angry. This can have a negative effect on your communication skills. A person with a high level of emotion can have trouble choosing his words carefully. Stress management leads to improved communication.

Everyone experiences stress. This will help you focus sometimes and do the work at hand. But when stress is frequent and intense, it can strain your body and make it unable to function. Finding effective ways to deal with it is important to live well. (nami, 2022)
