goals includes profit margin, customer satisfaction and economic need. As
stated by Kenneth and Heresy “An effective leader must be a good diagnostician
and must adopt style the demands of the situation in which they operate.”
According to Yukl (2006), they
see leadership as a process of influencing their followers to understand and
agree upon what is needed to be done and how it should be achieved, and the
process of facilitating collective and individual efforts to realize a common
objective or goal.
Leadership is the function of
leading a team or organization or the ability to do this. Such as,
1.
A clear vision of the organization must be
established
2.
Vision must be shared among team members to achieve
the goal
3.
The team should be clearly informed the
information to realize the vision of the organization
4.

interests of all members and stakeholders.
A leader is a person who must
act in a crisis situation or at a time of quick decision making. Leadership
cannot be taught, but leadership skills can be improved by gaining training,
mentoring and experience in such leadership.
What is employee performance
Employee performance is the
ability to perform employee tasks in the workplace in a timely and effective
way. Performance is measured by the quality, quantity, and the efficiency of
work in the workplace.
Focusing on employee
performance does not only benefit the business. It helps to achieve the full
potential of the staff, while at the same time improving the overall
performance - this will have a positive effect on the morale and quality of the
work produced.
Impact of Leadership style on
Employee performance
A leadership style refers to
the characteristic behaviors of a leader when leading, promoting, guiding and
managing groups of people. These are some difference types of styles.
Autocratic or Authoritarian
leadership:
Autocratic leadership, also
known as dictatorial leadership, is a leadership style characterized by
personal control over all decisions and the small input of team members.
Authoritarian leaders generally make choices based on their opinions and
judgments and rarely accept advice from their followers.
This form of leadership does
not allow for suggestions from employees, and they need to follow orders
without any explanation as to why the task should be completed.
Researchers have also found
that authoritarian leadership often lacks creative solutions to problems, which
can ultimately affect the functioning of the team.
Democratic or Participative
leadership:
Participatory or democratic
leaders devolve power. It is characterized by consultation with sub-executives
and their participation in formulating plans and policies. He encourages
participation in decision making.
Democratic leadership style
results in increased productivity of employees, reduces the need for control
and systematic rules and procedures, creates competent individuals who are
willing to do what they can and tend to create sub-executives who think for
themselves and seek responsibility.
The Laissez-faire or Free-rein
leadership:
Independent leaders avoid
power and responsibility. The Laissez-faire, or non-interfering type of leader,
delegates decision-making responsibility to his subordinates and takes minimal
initiative in management. He gives no direction and allows the team to establish
its own goals and create its own problems.
Leaders who follow the Laissez-faire
leadership style do not give feedback to their followers. They do not use
rewards or other tools to meet the needs of their followers. As a result,
employees are dissatisfied, ineffective and inefficient in their work.
Paternalistic leadership:
Paternal leadership is the
administrative style of a father, where organizational authority is used to control
and protect subordinate employees who are expected to be loyal and
[unconditionally] obedient.
This type of leadership style
can have a positive impact on the performance of employees because the employee
will always be rewarded for good behavior and hard work. absenteeism and
dissociation were reduced, and decisions are made based on the interests of the
employees.
Conclusion
The results show that
leadership has a positive impact on the quality of performance and in turn has
a positive effect on job satisfaction. Leadership has an impact on job satisfaction,
and it motivates an employee.
